Welcome to St. Michael

 June 29, 2016

Dear Parents/Guardians:

As you are aware, St. Michael CES will soon be seeing some significant improvements to our yard as a result of the school board’s agreement with Lang’s to provide extra parking for their staff. I am writing today to outline the coming changes and to highlight the anticipated timelines for completion.

Reconfiguration of the Existing Driveway Entrance

  • Work to happen during the summer months and completed by start of school.

  • Includes the addition of a new concrete student/pedestrian walk and widening of the existing driveway entrance.

Addition of a New Kindergarten Outside Play Area

  • Work to happen during the summer and completed by start of school.

  • Play area will include a fenced perimeter, asphalt play area, and soft surface play area.

Baseball Diamond Improvements

  • Work to happen during the summer and completed by start of school.

  • New stone dust will be added to the diamond area and a new backstop will be installed.

Removal of Existing Running Track

  • School Council endorsed a full removal of the track versus repairing it.

  • Work to happen over the summer and completed by start of school.

Lang’s Parking Area on the South End of the School’s Site

  • Robertson Simmons Architects is overseeing this part of the project.

  • Currently going through City of Cambridge approvals.

  • Work is estimated to start in September. Depending on the speed of City of Cambridge approvals, the project is estimated to be completed by December, 2016.

  • Work areas will be secured and separated from the remainder of the school grounds when the project begins.

  • The City has been notified that we wish the existing crosswalk moved from its present location to one that will allow students to take advantage of the new sidewalks.

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly.

Best wishes for a safe and happy summer.

Principal’s Message

Another school year  closes, and on behalf of our Staff and School Council, we wish to thank all parents and members of our community for supporting our children’s learning, extra curricular activities and faith journeys. This year, our students engaged  in a variety of worthwhile  initiatives in our region and school. All of our students can be proud of their achievements in all areas of school life – sports, academics, faith and special events.

Good luck to our Grade 8 students as they venture to high school next year to assume greater challenges and we wish students and families leaving our school community all the best in their futures. We also welcome all new students and families and hope they attain success and comfort joining our school community.

We hope that all our students, parents and staff have a restful and enjoyable summer.  Let’s be prayerful for a safe summer for all. We look forward to seeing each of you again on September 6.   Be Safe, Be Healthy and God Bless.

Mr. K. Herod, Principal

Summer Vacation Prayer

No more homework, no more tests.
No more getting up for school.
No more book reports or studying.
My summer vacation begins today!
I’m so happy and I’m so free.
I want to read and get up late.
I want to ride my bike and swim.
I want to play more with my friends.
Please bless my summer days, dear God.
Keep me safe and happy.

If you are moving and will not be returning to St. Michael’s in September, please notify the office – 519-653-3351.
