As we await Jesus’ resurrection on Easter Sunday, please take the time to discuss Lent with your family. A great resource to start the conversation is in the following link:
Busted Halo is a great site to visit for many helpful and informative videos about our Faith.
SCHOOL CONFESSIONS: As a whole school community, we were able to come together to participate in confession. We are so blessed to have a robust Spiritual Ministry led by Father Peter from St. Clements Parish. We appreciate the support that was given by the parent community to help prepare our students for this very important time during our Lenten season. A special thank you to Mrs. Kruger and Mrs. Saraiva for planning and transforming our gym to create the sacred space needed.
TECHNOLOGY AND YOUR STUDENT: Some parents have been asking about some resources to support them in dealing with issues their family is having with the use of technology and how it is interrupting their family dynamic. The attached resource will help you with this topic.
SCHOOL CLIMATE SURVEY FOR PARENTS: As you may know, the WCDSB has a Ministry requirement to conduct a School Climate Survey every 2 years for students, staff and parents. Students will be completing their survey at school. Parents are asked to follow the instructions included in the link below to complete their survey. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact the school.
OUR BOARD’S NEW PASTORAL PLAN: CALLED TO BELONG: WCDSB’s new pastoral plan was unveiled last month with a celebration at St. Daniel Parish. The board’s new plan is outlined in the video attached at the following link:
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM – CONGRATULATIONS: A heartfelt congratulations are in order to our Girls Volleyball Team who worked hard at their season tournament. They showed girt and perseverance and ended up securing third place overall! Way to go everyone! A special thank you goes to the Coach – Mrs. Claeesens who supported them through all of the practices leading up to the tourney. Way to go Angels!
PARKING NEWS!: Thank you to our parent community who continue to recognize the importance of safety for our students and follow all of the safety rules around parking on the school property. Pick up and drop off continues to be at the back of the school and we ask that you do not park at the front of the school as this is a high traffic area. Thank you for your continued support!
ATTENDANCE: Many parents may not realize how often their child is absent from school. A missed day here and there may not seem like a big deal compared to missing several days in a row. But missing just two days a month can add up to a child being considered chronically absent. Chronic absences keep kids from getting the consistent instruction they need to build on basic skills. For kids with learning and attention issues, there’s something else to consider: Frequent absences not only mean less instruction, but also missed opportunities for intervention, re-teaching and enrichment. Please make every effort to have your children arrive on time each day. Our school starts at 9:00am. When children arrive even 5-10 minutes late, in addition to the adding on time for gathering their materials for the day – this can lead to upwards of a missed 20 mins before they are engaged in classroom instruction. This would equal to 100 minutes each week of missed time. We ask for your support in ensuring that they arrive prior to the bell and we thank you for your consideration in this matter.
UMBRELLA NIGHT AT ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL: St. Joseph school will be hosting an Umbrella Parent Night. Please see the flyer attached. St. Michael School is preparing for their own Umbrella Night coming up on April 25th. Looking forward to seeing you there.
