ANGEL UPDATE – NOVEMBER 25-29

THE UMBRELLA PROJECT THEME: GROWTH MINDSET

We are close to the end of November but the Umbrella theme of Growth Mindset is a strong as ever! Having a growth mindset (the belief that you are in control of your own ability, and can learn and improve) is the key to success. Yes, hard work, effort, and persistence are all important, but not as important as having that underlying belief that you are in control of your own destiny. The attached link is to an article that will help to help teach Growth Mindset to your child(ren).  Stay tuned for next months theme – Cognitive Flexibility!

CRAZY HAIR DAY – SO MUCH FUN!

What great participation for crazy hair day!  We certainly have some creative Angel families!  Take a look below at the amazing creations!

NEW WALKWAY NEAR PARKING LOT = INCREASED STUDENT SAFETY!

We have been fortunate to have our facilities department continue the paved walkway at the side of the school near the parking lot.  Starting Monday, we are asking all parents and students to use this walkway to get to the blacktop in the school yard.  It is a couple of extra steps but well worth the safety that it brings to our students.  We will be monitoring the parking lot starting Monday and encouraging the use of the walkway to promote student safety.  Thank you to our facilities and our community who are always looking out for the best interest of our students!

THE COLD WEATHER AND SNOW IS HERE!

Please remember to send your child/ren to school with proper outdoor attire including hats, mitts (waterproof) and boots.  The weather can change throughout the course of the day and we want to ensure that they are dressed to go outside and have fun with their peers!

LUNCH – BRINGING FOOD TO SCHOOL FOR YOUR CHILD/REN

We have many parents that drop off a hot lunch for their children and we gladly distribute the lunches to students as quickly as possible.  Please be reminded that lunch starts at 11:45 and students have until 12:05 to eat.  At 12:05 they are expected to be outside as there is no supervision inside for students to continue eating their lunches.  Please ensure that all outside food is dropped off at 11:45 or a little earlier so students have time to enjoy it before they go outside.  Lunches dropped off after 12:05 will not be able to be eaten until after the lunch hour has ended as there is not food allowed outside in our yard.  Thank you for understanding.

STRONG START VOLUNTEERS

We are in desperate need of Strong Start volunteers!  As a Strong Start volunteer, you can expect to make a meaningful and lasting difference in the life of a child.

  • Work one-on-one with a child in our Letters, Sounds and Words program. …
  • Work with preschool children in our Get Ready for School program. …
  • Assemble Program Games and Activities.

If you can offer 1 hour each week, we would love to have you!  Please contact the office for more details!

DANCE A THON PRIZE WINNERS ANNOUNCED

On Friday, there were many excited students as we announced the winners of our Dance A Thon prizes!  Students won chromebooks, spheros, gift cards and many more prizes for their fundraising efforts.  As a whole school community we achieved our targets and we will be rewarded with a Gum Day, Hat Day and Extra Recess time!  A special thank you to our parent volunteers who were able to give out our prizes to the lucky students!  Congratulations Angel families – a great fundraiser!
