What another great week of learning at St. Michael School – even for our teachers!  We participated in a lunch and learn in which all of our teachers agreed to come and eat lunch together and learn about new technology in the hopes that we can pass that learning on to your children!  We learned how to run and operate spheros – a robotic device that you can code.  Our students now have access to these devices and we are excited that they are starting to be exposed to even more 21st century technology!

There will be pumpkins and fun this week as we get closer to our big Halloween event – the Monster Mash Dance-A-Thon that will take place this Thursday October 31st!  We are so excited to share in a day of dancing all for a great cause – our students!  Please continue to get pledges and maybe win a chance to see Mrs. Papp and some teachers get “pie’d” in the face at an upcoming assembly!  It’s almost time!

On Thursday, October 31st all (Early Years/P/J/I) students will be invited to wear their costumes to school. Please be mindful of the costumes your child is wearing.  Costumes cannot promote violence or have accessories or props that could be used as a weapon. As well, masks or suggestive costumes are not permitted.  We want this to be a fun day for everyone!

Our Catholic School Advisory Council has prepared a surprise for the entire school on Monday!  Don’t forget to ask your child/ren what the surprise was – we are so excited to share – but we have to wait for one more day!!

Please be reminded to pack lots of extra clothes for your child as needed.  The outside is feeling a little cooler and many students are not prepared with hats and mitts and warmer jackets to wear.  Please ensure that your child also has both indoor and outdoor shoes.  For our early learners, we would also like to see a full extra change of clothing included in their backpack.  Thank you for helping to prepare your child.

Every class at St. Michael’s is connected to another class 2-4 times each month to participate in Learning Buddies.  These times are dedicated to peer to peer learning.  Some activities are technology based, literacy, art, drama and math.  They work with a partner or in a group with their peers in the school.  It is a great way to learn and grow!
