Angel Community,

Welcome to a new week and the beginning of a new month, Angels!
Last week we celebrated Shrove Tuesday with the enjoyment of pancakes thanks to the efforts of our school council parent volunteers. The Angel community really enjoyed this delicious treat – thank you to all who made this possible! On Ash Wednesday, we gathered together as a faith-filled community for our Ash Wednesday liturgy. We reflected upon how Lent is a time of prayer and preparation for Easter, the holiest of the liturgical seasons. Students and families are encouraged to think about how they can prepare for this special time in our faith lives. Here is a short video about Lent: Lent in 3 Minutes

Once again, we would like to thank you for your ongoing support! Working in collaboration with our families really makes a huge impact and helps us make our school a great place to learn and grow.

March Umbrella Skill: AUTONOMY

This month the Umbrella Project is focused on the skill that helps us think and do for ourselves, feel that our life is in our control and confidently make our own choices when faced with uncertain situations. This skill is Autonomy.  What will autonomy do for my child?

When we have autonomy we feel empowered to make decisions that can improve our lives instead of feeling that our lives are outside of our control. Having autonomy increases our motivation and ability to do things for ourselves and can make tasks feel less like work and more enjoyable. Research on autonomy in more than 80 countries has shown a positive connection to our wellbeing. The feeling that our life is self-directed instead of controlled by others has wide reaching implications on almost every aspect of our well-being from our engagement in school to our honesty at home. It forms the foundation of our independence.  ~ Dr. Jen Umbrella Project
